Block repeat accounts

Banned users stay banned: a face blocklist, a device blocklist and duplicate detection catch the same person coming back with a new account.

Included in the price of every face, ID and KYC check.

What the user sees

Nothing extra. The protection runs on the check the user already does.

  1. A user taking a selfie in the verification flow

    Step 1

    The usual check

A selfie, or an ID document and a selfie, depending on the check you chose.

  2. Step 2

    We compare

The face and the device are checked against your blocklists and against earlier verifications in your account.

  3. Step 3

    You see the match

The result tells you when the person is blocked or already verified for another account, so a ban sticks.

What you get

With each verification, by signed webhook and through the API:

  • Blocked face

Whether the face matches a person you blocked.

  • Blocked device

Whether the verification came from a device you blocked.

  • Duplicates

Whether the same person already verified for another account, and which verification it was.

How each protection works

Face blocklist

Ban someone once, from the verification in your dashboard. A later verification with the same face is caught, whatever email, phone number or document they use next.

Device blocklist

Block the device a banned user verified from, so a new account from that device is caught too.

Duplicate detection

See when the same person verifies for several accounts, without waiting for a ban: trial abuse, ban evasion, fake profiles.

Works with

Facial age estimation, Age verification by ID and Identity verification (KYC). You switch it on for face and ID checks; with KYC it is always on. It does not work with the EUDI Wallet, which shares only an over-age claim.

Good for

Dating apps, marketplaces and communities: any platform that bans users and needs the ban to stick. Your blocklist covers only your own account by default.

Pick the check it runs on

The protection is the same on every check. Choose the check by how much you need to know about the user.

What we keep to make it work

To recognize a face or a device later, we have to remember something. When the protection is on:

  • Photos, video and verification data are kept for 30 days, then deleted automatically.
  • A face template (numbers that can't be turned back into a photo) and a device fingerprint hash are kept for 12 months.
  • Without it, face and ID checks delete photos and video right after the decision.

Questions about blocking repeat accounts

Can a banned user come back with a new account?

When you ban someone, you put their face and device on your blocklist. A later verification with the same face or from the same device is caught, even with a new email, phone number or document.

How do you find one person behind several accounts?

Each verification is compared with the face templates from earlier verifications in your account, kept for 12 months. If the same person already verified for another account, the result tells you.

Does it cost extra?

No. The face blocklist, the device blocklist and duplicate detection are included in the price of every face, ID and KYC check.

Which checks does it work with?

Facial age estimation, Age verification by ID and Identity verification (KYC). It does not work with the EUDI Wallet, because a wallet shares only an over-age claim: no face and no photo.

Is my blocklist shared with other companies?

No. By default your blocklist covers only your own account. A person you ban is not blocked on other services that use ProofAge.
